Direct from Perth Festival comes the all-star world music band, Zukhuta!
Mahamudo Selimane is a renowned singer/guitarist from Mozambique who has toured around the world with his band Eyuphuro (one of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Real World’ label’s first releases). He regularly performs around Perth, most recently with Soukouss Internationale.
Mararo Wangai is a singer, actor and writer from Kenya, who has performed for and developed work with a number of Australian theatres.
Together they have released the album, Khululeko (meaning ‘freedom’ in Xhangana), which celebrates the universal spirit of freedom.
Zukhuta’s all-star line-up will feature Mahamudo’s long time collaborator John Wilson (The Wilds, The Doo-Daddies, Luke Dux), and Grammy-winning Lucky Oceans who pioneers the use of pedal steel guitar in African music, Hardy Perrine (Soukouss Internationale, Grace Barbe) and Marc Osborne on Saxophone.
