Josh Parker Honours Graduation Recital

Please join me as I close out my time at WAAPA and showcase what I have been working on over the last few years. I will be playing some exciting new original music inspired by my studies, alongside Callum Thomson, Chris Kazuki Jones, Finn Mckibbin and other collaborators. This evening will be one of the first outings for my own music, I hope you can come down and celebrate with me!

Holly Forster’s 4th Year Honours Recital

Holly’s final recital represents the culmination of her studies in jazz saxophone throughout her time at WAAPA. Holly has spent the last four years honing her craft under the guidance of esteemed instructors Jamie Oehlers, Marcus Strickland, Carl Mackey, Harry Mitchell, Sean Little and Gemma Farrell.

During her time at WAAPA, Holly has distinguished herself as a hard-working and passionate student. She was a finalist in both the James Morrison Vocal and Instrumental Scholarships at the Generations in Jazz festival and was acknowledged as a Featured Young Artist in Dingo Magazine in 2022. Her skill and commitment to the craft has taken her across the globe, embarking on a six-month study trip to the United States in 2023, where she participated in the New York University Steinhardt Summer Jazz Workshop, and a semester of exchange at the Frost School of Music in Miami. She was also accepted into the New York based Women in Jazz Organisation’s mentorship program that same year, where she was mentored by Melbourne saxophonist Angela Davis. Holly also recently travelled to Japan to take part in an exchange with Showa University, playing lead alto in the SHOWAYJO big band. Holly has been an active performer on the Perth scene over the last few years including leading her own ensembles at the Perth International Jazz Festival, the Lyric Lane Jazz Festival and the York Festival.

For this very special recital, Holly will be joined by her dear friends Bob Tweedie on piano, Zac Grafton on bass and Ryan Daunt on drums. Together, they will perform a selection of pieces that encompass Holly’s love for spiritual, folk, and modern jazz, with a touch of good old swing! This concert is not just a showcase of her musical ability but a reflection of her artistic journey and the influences that have shaped her sound.

Come witness this milestone performance for Holly as she celebrates coming to the end of her time at WAAPA.
