Kevin Huang’s Graduation Recital
As I reach the exciting milestone of graduating from WAAPA, I am delighted to invite you to my graduation recital, a special performance that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
I’ll be presenting a collection of some of my favourite tunes and original compositions alongside dear friends, each piece reflecting personal growth and creative exploration throughout my studies.
Join me for an evening of exhilarating rhythms, rich harmonies, and heartfelt expression. This recital is not just a showcase of my musical development but will also pay homage to the diverse and dynamic world of jazz. I look forward to sharing this memorable performance with you, expressing my gratitude to those who have supported and encouraged me along the way.
Cass Evans-Ocharern Graduation Recital
Cass Evans-Ocharern is an electric and double bass player from Perth/Boorloo, Western Australia.
Over his past five years at WAAPA, Cass has dedicated his time to performing, practicing and studying, with teachers including Nick Abbey, Paul Pooley, Pete Jeavons, Ben Vanderwall, Danny Susnjar and Sam Anning.
In 2022, Cass was fortunate enough to travel to the US for the Brubeck Jazz Summit, where he spent two weeks working with musicians such as Chad LB, Eric Harland and Gilad Hekselman.
Cass’s final performance at WAAPA will be a culmination of what he has learnt throughout not just his years at WAAPA, but his whole life studying and performing. He will be joined by his closest friends and long-time collaborators to showcase a set of original music and arrangements.

Miella Mondlane’s Graduating Jazz Recital
Miella Mondlane is an emerging and multifaceted musician in her final stages of completing her Bachelor of Music in Jazz vocals at WAAPA.
As a vocalist, songwriter, and performer, her musical journey has been shaped by a wide range of influences, marked by her ability to connect deeply with audiences through her captivating stage presence and warm tones.
At WAAPA, Miella has had the privilege of studying with esteemed mentors like Penny King, Victoria Newton, Holli Scott, and Chris Foster. She has made her mark through performances with the Vocal Jazz Choir, Big Band, Latin Ensemble, and the renowned percussion group Defying Gravity, demonstrating her versatility across multiple genres.
This recital will feature a diverse program, compositions and her own interpretations of beloved arrangements, inspired by artists such Cécile Mclorin Salvant, Jazzmeia Horn and Carmen McRae, blending rich jazz traditions with modern soul.
Miella will be joined on stage by Bob Tweedie (piano), Arvis Del Vedado (Bass), Ryan Daunt (drums), Ethan Lamb (Trumpet) and other special guests, promising an unforgettable evening.
