In 1954, jazz vocalist Sarah Vaughan recorded her self-titled sophomore album. Featuring nine heartfelt arrangements of jazz standards and backed by a band that included hard bop trumpet sensation Clifford Brown, the album was a critical success, with its reputation only growing in the years since its release. Reissued in 1991 as Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown, the album showcases Vaughan’s swinging vocal talent and Brown’s bop virtuosity, with critics describing it as “one of the most important jazz-meets-vocal sessions ever recorded.”
Join two of Perth’s rising jazz stars, vocalist and saxophonist Holly Forster and trumpeter Matt Knight, as they pay tribute to this album and two giants of jazz.
