PERTH INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL AT THE ELLINGTON JAZZ CLUB

Praaz is a collective of established musicians of various genres that come together to play a unique blend of cross-cultural music. This band consists of multi-instrumentalists which helps in creating a unique sound for almost every individual track.

The band is led by Praaz (Praashekh Borkar), who is predominantly an Indian Classical Sarod player and features the Sarod and the Esarod, (an instrument he invented), as the main lead instrument. Praashekh has been performing the Sarod for over 25 years and has played at many major venues and festivals globally.

Julian Silburn plays the Didgeridoo and has been taught by Noongar elders and Yolngu elders from the Arnhemland. Julian also plays the acoustic guitar, rainsticks and crystal bowls in this band.

On drums is the brilliant composer and multi-instrumentalist Tao Issaro. He also plays the Nagada Dhol drum and Jaw harp.

The magnificent Daniel Drieberg plays Violin and Mandolin.

The other instruments featured in this band are Keyboards, Bass, Tabla, Darbouka, miscellaneous percussion and Konnakol South Indian vocals, all of which create a distinctive style of world music that fuses music from Indian Classical, Arabic, Folk, Celtic and Jazz.
