The critically acclaimed jazz trio Number Junky from Perth returns to Ellington Jazz Club to launch their much anticipated second album. This inventive Danish/Australian unit has become known for combining exciting rhythms and odd-time signatures with lyrical melodies and lush harmony. Their latest offering, ‘Birak’, was recorded on the back of the trio’s recent tour of the Eastern States and is the follow up album to their successful debut ‘Earth Matters’ from 2022. They dive deeper into exploring busy rhythmic minefields and lustrous sounds where hip grooves and interplay meets masterful post-bop. Joining them on stage for a special guest appearance is local tenor saxophone legend Jamie Oehlers. The concert is part of a regional launch tour in WA.
