ELLINGTON SWEET 16 FESTIVAL: SIXTEEN YEARS OF SWEET JAZZ
20th February – 2nd March 2025
Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse are award winning artists whose music is a celebration of life, community and a shared humanity. The depth of their talent is extraordinary. With a reputation for bringing a fresh take on ancient traditions and merging evocative sounds, they are natural storytellers through song. Their use of rare Noongar language in their songwriting perfectly captures the essence of two best friends, performing beautifully crafted musical stories. Gina and Guy have been named Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2022 WA Music Industry Awards.
Join Gina and Guy in full band mode to celebrate The Ellington’s Sweet Sixteenth for this Saturday matinee gig reprising their sold-out NAIDOC Week show. This is a rare opportunity to see Guy get into electric mode, as he and Gina front a stellar combo featuring Nick Abbey on bass, Danny Susnjar on Drums and Russell Holmes on piano. These shows are few and far between, and are an amazing celebration of musicianship as well as Noongar language and culture.
