Jessie Gordon, Harry Mitchell, Karl Florisson and Michael Perkins play select songs from the catalogue of a titan of 20th century American music, Edward Kennedy ‘Duke’ Ellington.
Ellington was a pianist, composer and band leader who shaped the sound of popular American music for fifty years from the mid 1920s when his band took the contract as the house band for Harlem’s Cotton Club.
Join us for a night of beautiful melodies, delicious harmony and thoughtful renditions of some of Ellington’s most beloved songs, including the haunting refrains of Lush Life, Misty and Solitude, the playful Don’t Get Around Much Anymore and the soulful Come Sunday and I Ain’t Got Nothing But the Blues
